ANTI-AGE your MAKEUP ROUTINE
Take our our word: overly made-up skin is a one way ticket to looking a lot older than you actually are. Go easy on make-up and follow rules to knock years off your face!
Take it easy
If you have dark circles or some sun spots, dot a tiny bit of concealer on the inner corners of your eyes or on these spots, not all over the place. And while letting your skin show through may seem counterintuitive, the more skin you can see, the better. As long as it is well hydrated, freeh skin looks much more youthful than an obviouslt covered complexion. Stop packing on excessive powder too!
Open your eyes
An eyelash curler, shimmering shadow, mascara and brow powder can turn back the clock — at least temporarily. Curling your eyelashes and adding a little glimmery shadow as a highlighter are the easiest things you can do to make your eyes look bigger — and therefore younger. Look for the blackest black mascara you can find — it will make the whites of your eyes look clearer and whiter,”Linter says. And don’t forget to define sprase brows (powder works best for truly skimpy arches). Thick, full, brows can take years off your face.
Tinted moisturizers with luminescent particles or light weight liquid foundations are best for lined skin. Unlike pressed powder, which settles into wrinkles and makes the skin look even older, a light reflective liquid formula creates the illusion of a glowing complexion. To apply foundation flawlessly, use either a damp sponge or a foundation brush to dot it all over your face in tiny amounts. It’s a good idea to use powder to set it so it doesn’t smear into lines. Dust in a loose translucent formula, avoiding the eye area completely.
Warm it up
Nude lipstick and matte bronzer look lifeless on skin that’s dull. Instead, a neutral rose color applied to the lips and the apples of the cheeks flatters all skin tones and really brightens it up.
Give a little lip
Your natural lip line can begin to fade as you age, which makes lipstick more prone to bleeding. Tracing it with a clear lip liner can help lipstick stay put.
Apply eye shadow base
Patting the finiest dab of eye shadow base or primer on the lids before your shadow will keep it in place. This is especially important if your lids have even the slightest wrinkles. Fine lines can exacerbate creasing, and creasing exacerbates the appearance of lines. Vicious cycle. I see women put eye cream on their lids in the hopes of smoothing out their lines,”says Linter. But all it does is make all the eye makeup bleed and turn into a hot mess”.
Wear brown eyeliner
You have been using black eyeliner since college, you wear it everyday, and you could apply it with your eyes closed (and probably do). It’s time to end that relationship. Deep brown has the impact of black, but looks less jarring. It gives you all the instensitt, but in a more sophisticated, subtle way. Draw the pencil along the upper lashes only, and lift the lines at the outer corners with a cotton swab.
Show off your bone structure
After years of smiling into a mirror to isolate the apples of your cheeks, you can now give it a rest. Women lose fat in their face as they age. Take advantage of that! Rub your blush in along the highest points of your cheekbones — it makes your vonw structure stand out.
Choose a lengthening mascara
Lashes get thinner as you age, so comventional wisdom says you need a thickening mascara to bulk them up, but common wisdom is wrong. “Your lashes can’t support the extra weight. Heavy formulas flatten the lashes, and look for mascaras with thin wands so you can easily coat each lash.
